Carbon forestry opportunities
Private Forests Tasmaniaโs Carbon Forestry 101 project is coming to Longford, Brighton and Ulverstone this August and September, for Tasmanian farmers and landowners to learn about all things carbon forestry.
These events will support farmers thinking about the sustainability of their supply chains and explain how carbon forestry projects can demonstrate offsets from emissions generated on their farms.ย
Event attendees will work through the basics of carbon forestry including carbon science, carbon markets, carbon project governance and methodologies including the Plantation Forestry Method and the Environmental and Mallee Plantings Method. They will also receive specially developed resources which focus on simplifying the complex science and unpacking key jargon terms.ย
These events are free but capped at 30 attendees per event.ย
Private Forests Tasmania has commenced work on a Carbon Forestry 101 Project which will be rolled out to Tasmanian farmers and landowners across the next three years.
The project aims to build awareness, understanding, confidence and participation among Tasmanian farmers and landowners in carbon forestry opportunities.
