Many small-scale forest growers have experienced difficulty in securing insurance cover for their plantations. After two-years, Forestry Australia, along with PSC Insurance Brokers and the Forest Growers Committee announce the availability of a new insurance cover, Plantation Protect.

The cover is underwritten via International insurers and provides an option for Australian small-scale growers to secure protection.
There are some coverage aspects for Plantation Protect that should be noted:

  • Fire is covered as standard with wind an optional extra.
  • Embargos and waiting periods may be implemented, we encourage growers to apply early to avoid issues with coverage. I.e., The southern growers fire season normally commences mid-November.
  • There is a 14-day premium payment policy condition, premiums need to be paid in that timeframe.
  • KMZ/ Shape Files must be provided for all plantation locations.

If you don’t have KMZ files, the following link will assist you map your plantations.
