Tasmanians can now develop an online bushfire plan and better understand their bushfire risk using a new website as part of the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to keeping Tasmanians safe.

The new ‘5-minute bushfire plan’ is an easy to use online tool that allows people to run through a questionnaire to plan what they’ll do to keep themselves and their household safe in the event of a bushfire.

In addition, a media campaign called ‘Bushfire – why risk it?’ will be used to explain the simple actions required for people to be bushfire ready and dispel inaccurate beliefs about the risk of bushfires.

With the summer bushfire season approaching it is important now more than ever that individuals and properties are prepared. That is what this new campaign developed by the Tasmania Fire Service aims to do.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to keeping Tasmanians safer from the threat of bushfires, which is why they are investing $17.6 million in a comprehensive package of mitigation initiatives in the 2020-21 State Budget.

They are delivering a clear plan for bushfire prevention, because they know that when landowners, industry, farmers and the wider community are supported in this way, all Tasmanians will be safer.

All Tasmanians are encouraged to access the tool online via the Tasmania Fire Service website www.fire.tas.gov.au
